Sunflower 9830NT

The all new Sunflower 9830NT Series single-disc air drill (shown above) is simply the most universal seeding tool available. The 9830NT is designed to seed into the entire range of soil conditions from no-till with heavy residue to soft, fluffy conventional till. Designed with fewer moving parts to minimize maintenance downtime and engineered with simplified seed-depth control for easy operation.

AgControl® is the most accurate and responsive rate control system on the market. The key features of the 9830NT’s AgControl system are:

  • Section control of all three sections
  • The integrated 60/40 split poly tank provides dual product capabilities.
  • The ISO compatible Task Controllers allow prescription seed and fertilizer application.
  • Each seed opener has its own dedicated meter flute to provide the utmost seeding accuracy.
  • And the 9830NT is equipped with six dedicated motors to provide sectional shut-off, seed rate turn compensation as well as the ability to provide sectional rate control as required by prescription seeding.
  • Easy access makes meter calibration a breeze. The presence of active hydraulic and electric power to the drill is required for the calibration process.
  • The down pressure of each of the tool bars on the 9830NT drill is loaded by hydraulic cylinders connected in a parallel circuit. The down pressure is uniform across the drill and consistent through the entire range of motion of the tool bars.
  • This system is far superior to springs that increase down pressure when stretched or compressed depending on configuration.

Depth Control

Depth ControlThe color coded depth control collars on each of the four frame lift cylinders give a visual confirmation that each of the cylinders is at the correct depth. Utilizing the same combination of collars on each cylinder assures seeding depth will be uniform.

Seed depth change requires only minutes and is done at the lift cylinders. No changes at the seed openers are required. Compare the simplicity of just four adjustments versus 48.

Section Control

Section ControlWith variable section zone control and section control, you’ll be putting the right populations right where you need them so you’ll get the top yield where you can and save seed where you should.

Meter Access

Meter AccessEasy access makes meter calibration a breeze. The presence of active hydraulic and electric power to the drill is required for the calibration process to lower the plenum and operate the meter drives.

The plenum lowers hydraulically by activating the lever mounted to the inside of the tongue frame.

Sunflower 6830

The 6830 is a tillage tool specifically designed to provide producers the high speed, high residue flow capabilities unattainable with traditional shank equipped finishers and cultivators. It produces a smooth level seedbed not always obtained by today’s vertical tillage tools.

Developed to operate in different types of soil conditions and crop residues, operating the new 6830 at speeds in excess of 10 mph will size residue and produce an extremely smooth soil profile. The 6800 combines four different types of ground engaging tools, each strategically located on the tool to accomplish a specific task. Since all the ground engaging tools utilized in the 6830 are of the “rolling” type, the possibility of the unit plugging is practically eliminated.

The AE50 award-winning Sunflower 6830 uses an all-rotary system with patented Rotary Spider Tines that can get through the toughest residue conditions where other tools can bind, pile and drag residue.

With this tool, a perfect seedbed can be built in one pass. The 6830 Series is also the first Sunflower tool to be equipped with Sunflower’s all new maintenance-free disc gang reel bearings.

  • Long-wearing “High Hat” UHMW bearings are in all wing hinge locations to reduce wear and keep wing hinges tight and in alignment during the toughest of field conditions. This also saves time in servicing as these are “no-grease” bearings.
  • Front mounted depth control allows the operating depth of the entire machine to be adjusted with a single setting. This simple adjustment is easy, precise and hydraulically locks the depth.
  • Walking tandem axles are standard on all models.

How the 6830 works

The 6830 Series is a new concept in seedbed preparation and is completely void of sweeps and combines four types of rolling ground engaging tools into a three step process.

Step 1 – Residue Management (Disc Blades and Spring-protected Disc Gangs Reels)

Wavy BladesThe first step is leveling and sizing of crop residue. This is accomplished by a gang of low concavity 19.69 inch (50.8 cm) diameter, 1/4 inch (0.635 cm) thick blades at 7 1/2 inch (19.1 cm) spacing. These blades are set at an 8° angle to provide just the right amount of lateral soil movement to level soil and anchor residue. The spring-loaded, 11-inch diameter flat blade reel ensures the soil flows from the disc blades rearward.

The disc gang reels intercept the soil from the disc blades, limiting the lateral movement of the soil. They prevent the soil ridging normally associated with single gang tillage tools. The reels turn at twice the speed of the disc blades and aggressively attack and break up clods and root crowns. The spring mounts on the disc gang reels ensure sufficient down pressure to keep them engaged and protect the reels if they strike a rock or other similar object.

Step 2 – Seedbed Processing (Wavy Blades)

Rotary Spider TinesThe second tillage stage is comprised of a gang of eight wave coulter blades, 20-inch x 2-inch (50.38 2.05 cm) wide following the disc gang and reel.

These blades, spaced at 7 1/2 inches (19.05 cm), split the centers of the disc gang. The wavy coulter blades shatter the soil and exert force to the left and right of the blade. They also fracture the soil below, providing avenues for root development.

Step 3 – Finishing (Rotary Spider Tines)

Disc BladesThe finishing touch is created by two gangs of Sunflower’s exclusive Rolling Spider Tines (RSTs). Spaced at 7 1/2” (19.05 cm) at the hub on a common gang shaft, the tines are intermeshed one gang to the other. The RSTs are engineered with a twist at the ends of the tines which extends their reach 1.25 inches (3.175 cm) to the left and right, overlapping the other tillage components, leaving no soil unworked. As the tines enter the soil, edge first, the flat of the tine immediately engages the soil. The tine sculpts the seedbed floor, lifts the soil and blends soil, crop residue and dry fertilizer (if applied).

The aim for vertical tillage practices is to manage residue and open soil for warming and drying while minimizing horizontal movement of the soil — a situation that can cause compaction layers to form.

Not all vertical tillage tools are the same. As agronomists and tillage engineers have had time to study their designs and effects, vertical tillage tools have become more effective at residue management, better at lifting soil vertically (as opposed to horizontally) and easier to use.

Vertical Tillage ToolsA – Early vertical tillage tools appeared much like gangs of coulters. These tools cut residue but did little to pin and incorporate residue for erosion management or decomposition.

B – The next evolution of tools used wavy blades that were more effective in lifting soil but struggled to create much surface-level disturbance. These tools also lost much of their effectiveness when the blades became dull.

C – Tools that use smooth blades with a degree of concavity that stirs surface soil work much like a disc harrow. They incorporate surface residue by moving soil horizontally, the very condition vertical tillage is supposed to avoid.

D – The Sunflower 6631 uses Saber Blades that pair a fluted design with a low concavity, creating a soil-lifting action that cannot be duplicated by a conventional spherical disc blade.

Each blade has twenty-five full depth flutes and features an innovative sawtooth design that maintains its cutting edge and is able to cut through tough crop residue throughout the life of the blade.

The 6631SW keeps the wing wheels out to the edge of the wing maintaining the correct relationship with the front and rear gangs ensuring superb performance and a level field.

The patented split-wing technology gives the 6631-35 and 6631-40 a low 13’ 5” transport height. Unlike many competitors’ vertical tillage tools, Sunflower’s vertical tillage tool attachments are included in Sunflower’s 3-year limited warranty. The walking tandems, gauge wheels, cab-controlled fore/aft leveling and a choice of finishing attachments are all standard equipment.

Our new 9800VE series takes the trusted systems White Planters have used for years and supplements them with proven designs and innovations to give an even higher level of performance. Our new planter gives you the speed, accuracy and assurance needed to deliver the yields the future will expect.

One of the most important functions a planter can perform is the formation of a proper seed trench during opening. A correct v-shaped trench keeps seed secure in alignment and makes an ideal germination and growing environment.

The design for opening seed trenches varies across manufacturer. While most planters use two discs to open the seed trench, the size and position of these discs can affect the quality of the trench and the usable life of the disc themselves.

9800VE Row Unit AssemblyThe 9800VE’s large double disc seed trench openers (16-inch) – allow for deeper seed placement while the cast row unit assembly removes the flex/tolerances versus welded construction. The cast and machined row unit assembly provides strength and precise, consistent alignment of all components. This results in a more desirable and consistent seed trench.

The White Planters 9800VE Series features vSet2 meters from Precision Planting. With these electric drive meters, each row unit acts as an individual planter and can adjust to varying ground speeds when planting in contours. This keeps seed spacing consistent across the entire width of the planter in all conditions.

In addition to the vSet2, the 9800VE Series planters are equipped with Precision Planting’s SeedSense 20/20 monitor system, with electric vDrive motors and the optional DeltaForce hydraulic downforce system.

The 9800VE Series combines a 90-bushel Central Fill System (CFS) with a factory installed liquid fertilizer system consisting of tank, pump and distribution manifold. Factory installed fertilizer openers are also avail-able. When folded to the transport position, the narrow 12-foot transport width offers convenient movement from field to field.

The best of all worlds from trench formation to singulation to down pressure– the 9800VE Series has performance that cannot be matched.

Delta Force

The DeltaForce Active Hydraulic Down Force system from Precision Planting can provide independent down pressure control of each individual row unit based on sensors measuring the correct down pressure needed. DeltaForce responds to the soil conditions multiple times a second in order to maintain planting depth without compacting the soil around the seed. This fast response is crucial in order to have every seed in the correct environment, whether planting at high speeds or at a more traditional speed. The ability to set, monitor, react and record down pressure gives you the precise control to aid uniform emergence across the field. Monitor and control individual row unit down pressure to ensure correct seed depth and soil environment with the 20/20 SeedSense monitor.

The AirMax 180 is the most accurate way to spread Urea, providing more consistent yield results from in-season applications.

Dry application systems have been available on RoGators® for more than 15 years, longer than any other high-clearance sprayer on the market today, and our experience shows. Our dry fertilizer applicators are the most complete line from any manufacturer. They’ll meet almost every customer’s need in a dry applicator.

RoGator has been building genuine combination units for more than a decade. These machines are designed for quick changes between systems — usually in less than a day — because component, hydraulic hose and electrical harness placement make it easy.

The AirMax 180 is the only pneumatic fertilizer spreader built for a high-clearance row crop chassis. For more than a decade, this spreader, with its proven and dependable design, has been a popular choice for our customers.

The system is designed to be a paired with a liquid system, greatly increasing the RoGator chassis’s use. The AirMax 180 is sized to perfectly match the RoGator series and has all of the great features found on the AirMax Precision family for our popular TerraGator® product line.


  • The hopper is constructed of painted 409 stainless steel on the sides and floors.
  • The hopper’s front corners are angled back for greater visibility so the operator can see the booms from the cab.
  • A front window lets the operator monitor product level and flow without having to leave the operator’s seat.

Dual-Rate Sensors

  • Two rate sensors at the front sprocket of the conveyors control application rates.
  • Front sprocket position provides more accurate readings because it’s a cleaner environment.
  • Sensors allow for independent left and right shutoff while maintaining accurate application rate.

Pneumatic System

  • The AirMax 180’s air delivery system is a key part of the system’s high accuracy.
  • Single, 17-in. (43.2 cm) hydraulically driven fan turns at 5,000-5,150 RPMs.
  • Fan is at the rear of the hopper above the booms for the shortest distance possible to the air distribution plenum.
  • Air drawn into the fan first passes through the hydraulic oil cooler for efficient cooling without requiring additional horsepower.
  • Fan and hydraulic cooler assembly is protected by a metal screen that keeps field debris from plugging the cooler or entering the fan.


  • AirMax 180 booms are constructed of five 3-in. (7.62 cm) tubes made from 304 stainless steel.
  • Each tube is divided to accommodate two deflectors on 30-in. (76.2 cm) spacing for a total of 10 deflectors per boom.
  • Four additional deflectors on the center boom section give the AirMax a total of 24 deflectors for a 60-ft. (18.3 m) spread width.
  • Five tubes on each boom are assembled horizontally so the deflectors are at the same height for a consistent and accurate spread pattern. This patented Flat Flex design is on all AirMax applicators.
  • The hopper’s front corners are angled back for greater visibility so the operator can see the booms from the cab.
  • A front window lets the operator monitor product level and flow without having to leave the operator’s seat.
